PRINTING IS THE MATERIAL CORE OF THE LAB.
AT POSADA, PRINTING IS TREATED AS AN EXPERIMENTAL PROCESS RATHER THAN A FINISHING STEP. WORKING ACROSS GICLÉE, PLATINUM/PALLADIUM, AND HYBRID METHODS, IMAGES ARE PUSHED THROUGH DIFFERENT STATES — TESTED FOR DENSITY, FRAGILITY, PERMANENCE, AND FAILURE.
THE WORK UNFOLDS ON A WIDE RANGE OF SUPPORTS, MANY OF THEM HANDMADE. JAPANESE PAPERS ARE CENTRAL TO THE PRACTICE, ALONGSIDE PAPERS DEVELOPED IN COLLABORATION WITH ARTISANS IN MEXICO. KOZO, GAMPI, MITSUMATA, AND LOCAL FIBERS ARE SELECTED FOR THEIR QUALITIES AND FOR THE WAYS THEY CAN BE MANIPULATED THROUGH THE PRINTING PROCESS.
PRINTING IS SLOW AND ITERATIVE. IMAGES ARE LAYERED, REWORKED, AND ALTERED, ALLOWING PROCESS AND MATERIAL TO SHAPE THE FINAL FORM.
